Institut français d’Egypte à Alexandrie, ΕΚΑ_Greek Community of Alexandria – Garage, Rock Sound, Janakles Studio, Goethe Institute Alexandria and 6 Bab Sharq

In this performance, you have only 90 minutes to solve the mystery of the murder of businesswoman “Nada Fathi”.  We ask you to participate in rewriting the story  inviting you through flashbacks, to revisit the events of the last day in the life of the victim, Mrs. “Nada Fathi”. We invite you to visit the places she frequented, learn from people she met, review her diaries and interview eyewitnesses.

Audiences will be divided in groups of three to five, that have to collaborate to uncover the murder mystery, and come to a conclusion about the perpetrator. This all in 90 minutes.

If the Earth’s temperature rises by 4 degrees, we find that the cities of Alexandria, Miami and Shanghai are at an equal risk of drowning, according to a speech by former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, at COP26. Yet Egypt’s contribution to global carbon emission does not exceed 0.61%, while that of the United States’ is 14.02%, and of China 29.18%. Will the industrialized nations, which have accumulated all their wealth by draining the planet, commit to reducing their carbon emissions equally? Will they stand by us, in facing the consequences of climate change?

90 Minutes, an interactive multidisciplinary performance, seeks to discuss the social and economic impact of climate change on the residents of Alexandria and their future. By merging live performance and digital solutions, a group of artists present their views and future visions of their drowning city. This creative framework provides an opportunity for the audience to learn about and discuss the economic and social impact that climate change will have on the city of Alexandria, on their lives and the lives of future generations.
