Abdalla Daif is a performing artist, cultural practitioner and producer. Born in 1978, he lives and works between Egypt and the Netherlands.

Daif’s work focuses on researching and exploring social and political forms of power, and their impact on marginal and neglected events in contemporary life. In his artistic practice, he focuses on integrating live performance with interdisciplinary media, and in different ways, always engaging audiences through active participation.

Daif works with the city, including public, private and virtual spaces, as a place for performing and engaging with lived daily life. He challenges audiences to leave their passive safety as spectators, and step into unexpected experiences.

Leading audiences towards the spaciousness and confrontation of interacting with their own thoughts and those of others. The work does not seek to provide answers, but rather to ask questions, encouraging the audience to formulate their own questions. As well as providing a space for reflection, in order to activate creative and critical thinking.

His work is striving towards formulating a special method of performance practice that grows, develops and explores unusual spaces in artistic practice. That take people out of their current way of thinking. Ultimately Daif’s work aims to challenges the perspectives, biases, and ready answers of audiences.

Asking them to view current issues from a new angle, question political framing, or challenge invisible dogma’s, to come up with creative solutions, new ideas; their own ideas
